Best In Slot Shaman Resto Shadowlands Rating: 5,6/10 1960 reviews
Restoration Shaman is one of the most well-rounded healing specs in all of World of Warcraft. The class excels in player-vs-environment (PvE) scenarios and can easily serve as a main source of healing for Mythic+ dungeons and raids.

TBC Phase 1 Restoration Shaman Best in Slot (BiS) Restoration Shaman Tier 4, the Cyclone Raiment has gloves, chest, head, legs, and shoulders. Its set bonuses are: 2 pieces: A small Mp5 gain from Mana Spring Totem. Not very impactful. 4 pieces: Reduces the cooldown on Nature's Swiftness by 24 seconds. Also not very impactful, but can increase. I believe the Darkmoon Card: Greatness is the best trinket a resto shaman can get at this point in the game. Like Wilgo said, Int is the most valued stat for a resto shaman at the moment. When this card procs and I’m fully raid buffed (without elixirs/flasks though) I hit 31k mana. The class provides a metric ton of large-scale healing, along with countless methods to reduce and absorb damage taken by party and raid members across the board. As one of the strongest healers in WoW: Shadowlands, Restoration Shamans bring plenty of healing—and even some damage—to the table in all situations.
Here are the best talents and builds to use to make the most out of Restoration Shamans.
Talents
Level 15: Unleash Life – This talent is perfect for buffing AoE healing abilities. Combining a cast of Unleash Life with an immediate Chain Heal will result in large-scale healing across the party. Additionally, friendly party or raid members that are critically low on health will benefit from the combined single-target efforts of Unleash Life and spells like Riptide or Healing Surge.
Level 25: Echo of the Elements – This talent provides a strong boost to both your healing and damage throughput. With Echo of the Elements, the extra charge of Riptide allows you to maximize your healing casts across your group, as well as deal extra damage with Lava Bursts in between your healing spells.
Level 30: Static Charge – Capacitor Totem is a strong AoE stun when used properly and this talent ensures that the cooldown of that ability is lowered depending on how many targets it connects with. In situations such as Mythic+ dungeons or Arenas, this talent can give your group a much-appreciated boost in the crowd control department.
Level 35: Earthen Wall Totem – This talent allows the Shaman to place down a totem that redirects all damage taken by the party to it. Earthen Wall Totem is a relatively strong damage reduction cooldown that absorbs damage equal to the caster’s current HP. In many cases, you’ll want to combine the ability with AoE abilities such as Chain Heal and Healing Rain, considering that group-wide damage is what you’ll want to be preventing whenever the Earthen Wall Totem is thrown down.
Level 40: Graceful Spirit – This talent reduces the cooldown of Spiritwalker’s Grace, which allows you to cast your abilities while moving. Graceful Spirit is a necessity in fights that require movement, so make sure to have this talent loaded up for nearly every encounter in the game.
Level 45: Cloudburst Totem – This talent strongly boosts your abilities as a healer, particularly in situations where many players spread out across your party or raid group require aid. Cloudburst Totem will absorb 30 percent of all your healing for 15 seconds and distribute it evenly across all injured party members in a 40 yard radius. This talent allows Shamans to serve as a strong supplemental healer in situations where raid damage will be particularly high. And if your group is topped off, Cloudburst Totem can prude a strong single-target heal to a tank in need.
Level 50: Ascendance – This talent is generally strong in most situations since it allows you to convert all of your single-target healing abilities such as Healing Surge and Riptide into AoE spells. Ascendance is a major cooldown that should be used during periods of high group-wide damage. If you notice that your group is taking a ton of damage from a boss (or even trash mobs), don’t be afraid to pop this fairly long cooldown and come to the rescue.
Covenant
The ideal covenant for Restoration Shamans is Venthyr. The ability granted to Shaman players by the Venthyr, Chain Harvest, is a well-rounded addition to your healing rotation and serves as a strong cooldown in both Mythic+ and raiding. While the cooldown of the ability sits at 90 seconds by default, it can be decreased by five seconds for each target that it critically strikes. Considering it can hit a total of 10 targets—healing five and dealing damage to five more—Chain Harvest could be on a cooldown as low as 40 seconds depending on your critical strike chance.
Additionally, Door of Shadows, the signature Venthyr ability, gives much-needed mobility to a class that’s starved of it.
Gear/Stat Priority
As a Restoration Shaman, your stat priority should be Versatility > Critical Strike > Haste > Mastery.
Versatility and Critical Strike are the two stats that you’ll want to be focusing on the most, considering that increases to them are going to directly increase your healing throughput. The passive spell Resurgence allows you to gain a flat percentage of your maximum mana back every time you land a critical strike with a healing ability such as Healing Surge or Riptide, making Critical Strike a high priority stat for Shaman players.
Haste and Mastery have their uses, as well—notably in the form of maximizing healing on low-health targets. But the throughput gained from focusing on these stats isn’t nearly as high as it is when prioritizing Versatility and Critical Strike.
Once again we find ourselves with new content and as a result new upgrades. Our tier sets await us as well as many more foes that must be conquered. That means it’s time for another best in slot post for my fellow raiding restoration shamans. Before we get started I would like to say just a couple things.
- First, this is my opinion. Use this as a guide or not at all, but this is based on my value of the stats we use.
- Second, please feel free to make your own list or suggestions, after all it is your character and you should equip it as you see fit.
Head:[Steamworker’s Goggles] – Flame Leviathan 25: Good MP5 and great stats
Neck:[Charm of Meticulous Timing] – XT-002 25 (hard mode) this is a tough one to get, and so you might not get a chance at it for a while. In the meantime a good alternative is [Frozen Tear of Elune] which will run you 19x Emblem of Conquest.
Resto Shaman Trinket Bis Shadowlands
Shoulders: There are two options here, first is [Conqueror’s Worldbreaker Spaulders] – Yogg Sarron 25. Haste, good mp5 and a red socket. Second runner up is [Amice of the Stoic Watch]– Auriaya 25. Crit instead of haste, decent mp5 and a red socket.
Back: [Shroud of Alteration] – Ulduar Trash 25
Chest: [Conqueror’s Worldbreaker Tunic] Hodir 25 or 58 Emblems of Conquest
Wrist: Again two options here, First is [Binding of Winter Gale] Hodir 25 (hard) or if you aren’t quite there yet, [Armbraces of the Vibrant Flame] from Ignis 10. These are BoE so you might be able to find them on the auction house as well.
Resto Shaman Best Trinkets
Hands: [Conqueror’s Worldbreaker Handguards]Mimron 25
Waist: I’m going to give this to [Windchill Binding] This will cost you 28 Emblems and it’s a great upgrade from the Naxx 25 loot. If you want more crit you can go with [Blue Belt of Chaos] but I’m finding the price rather inflated to have it crafted right now.
Legs: [Conqueror’s Worldbreaker Legguards] Freya 25
Boots: [Boots of the Forgotten Depths] General Vezax 25 Good MP5 and haste.
Rings: There are a lot of options here, I’m going to give my top 4 choices though to [Pyrelight Circle] – Ignis 25. [Sanity’s Bond] – Yogg 25. [Ring of the Faithful Servant] – Auriaya 25 and [Signet of Manifested Pain] – KT 25
Trinket: Again a lot of options my top picks are [Scale of Fates] – Thorim 25. [Living Ice Crystals] – Malygos 25. [Energy Siphon] – Flame Leviathan 10. [Pandora’s Plea] – Mimron 25,   [Je’Tze’s Bell] – BoE World Drop. I’m normally not a fan of on use trinkets, I prefer ones that give passive buffs most times, but Energy Siphon and Living Ice Crystal’s passive mp5 make them worth picking up alone. The on use effect of each is icing on the cake.
Off Hand: Two solid choices here, First is [Ice Layered Barrier] – Hodir 25 (hard) or [Pulsing Spellshield] – XT-002 10. Both have good stat allocation (and it helps they look cool!)
Relic: [Steamcaller’s Totem] – Flame Leviathan 25 or [Totem of Forest Growth] – 15x badges of heroism.
Main Hand: I saved this for last. First weapon that should be on EVERY healer’s list of wants is [Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings], Amazing mace with good stats. The proc as we’ve seen from the blue posts is crazy good. This will be at the top of everyone’s list. Second to this mace I vote [Guiding Star] – Razorscale 25, for best in slot runner up.
Looking at this I’m sure you will see it’s got a decent mix of MP5, haste and crit, while maintaining good intellect for replenishment and good spellpower. Some of the choices seem predictable, such as the tier 8.5 set pieces. The four pieces I selected I feel offer the most bang for the buck and allow you to gather the four piece bonus, which is worth it’s weight in gold.
If you’re looking to place value on items and stats, and figure out what weight works for you, you can use Shaman_hep, an addon from Stassart which allows you to calculate a miryiad of information from your combat logs to help lend a hand figuring out what’s best for you.
So now you’ve seen my list, What do you think are the best in slot items for Restoration Shaman?
